Preparations 6 - letter to Santa

Raymond Brigg's 'Father Christmas' has a lot to answer for.

The antics of this off season Santa - a grumpy glutton who's catchphrase is 'Bloomin' Christmas' - have captivated my boys. So much so, that Mark's letter to Santa this year started with 'I hope you won't be too drunk to get here'.

This was the home version and not the one they were asked to write at school. He proudly informed me that one had gone on for two-and-a-quarter pages! I shudder to think. How did I breed such a consumer?

But at least he's hospitable. Because he's designed a sign to direct Santa to refreshments. As an 'in return' gift.

Also he puts in a request for his brother and talks about being grateful! At least he is a thoughtful, appreciative consumer!

Ali my luv, you should live here! The Monster leaves daily updates on the fridge with prices, descriptions and Argos codes!!! He changes his mind like the wind and has no idea that Santa has in fact ignored all his requests and gone for Lego Exoforce instead!!
Yesterday was Star Wars, today Dr Who, Monday was Transformers! Minx wants her Granny back. Simple.

Oh bless - that is just gorgeous! I LOVE that he is grateful, has thought of his brother and has left a map! Firstborns are so serious aren't they.

How very cute! The opening line makes me laugh out loud! Kids are something else, aren't they?

I like how he asked for this big thing for himself and then he was all, "What? The pipsqueak? Just bring him a pen." I hope Santa isn't too drunk to get there, too!

he , he, well it is a BIG day for santa, all those people leaving out beers & port (etc) for him, it would be rude for him not to have a few...

How very very cute! Funnier still was the fact our Net Nanny blocked your blog today because of the (I quote) "Drugs/Alcohol" on your site. I think Mr Briggs would like that...

Oh oh oh! I had the book as a kid... :) Such fun. I wonder where it went off to?

Awwww, that is a lovely letter - shows he is thinking of others besides himself and remembers his pleases and thank yous. No.2 wrote on his that he had 'tryed to be good' which I don't think is the truth, whole truth and nothing but the truth. :-) x

My not so little chappie rang Snta up on a Santa-line we have here and told him that we would be at his grandparents house so please deliver the presents there, but not to worry because we would leave drink and cookies at our house ... he was just stirring, the rat bag.

Super cute!
Your kid is a real event planner.
Signs are very important! Santa will know exactly where to go :)

How sweet!!

We haven't written ours yet. Apparently Santa is magic and 'knows' everything anyway...

what a fab note - I love that he will be gratefull and that he wrote it from him and Johnny. We've been to visit Father Christmas today (Amy has an inset day) and the little minx changed her mind about what she was going to ask for at the last minute - I thought I'd finished the shopping but shall be found back at Toys R Us first thing on Monday morning!
