To market to market to buy a fat pig..

My mother requested a pig rubber stamp for her birthday and I was more than happy to oblige.

Who am I to argue with the gift requests of the queen of thrift, whose inside Charity Shop track brings all kinds of goodies my way. This visit it was some amazing dark red vintage buttons, and a loan of her pinking shears.

And the postman has been busy again with Moopy fabric goodness from

Paula,

Julia and

Soo (who also sent some lovely fabric for me!)

Thank you so much you guys - The Minimoopy love experience is coming along nicely. Although I am anticipating post-craft-fair let down after the busy weeks of planning and making. I am steeling myself and setting up a few post-fair projects to get my teeth into.
But so many bloggers seem to feel a bit bruised by the experience. Any tips for overcoming the blues?

gin & tonic. Double. If you're still feeling blue, repeat. Repeat till you forget what colour you were when you started.

Works every time.

Oh, what a great piggy! How do you get such perfect carved lines?

Such piggy perfection, wonderful stuff!
Have a look at this post on Whip Up - http://whipup.net/2006/08/08/whiptips-what-are-your-hot-selling-craft-fair-items/

It basically suggests that you should make things that are time and cost effective. I'm hoping to do my first fairs this autumn too, it's hard to know what to make. But from what I've seen so far, your workmanship is great so I'm sure you'll do really well!

As for the blues... ouzo? Lemon drop martini? Insane amount a chocolate?

Here's my tip for what it's worth: Make stuff you love and have someone in mind to give it to if it doesn't sell.

Expect this to be a great experience - you'll learn a lot. And talk to the other vendors - they are so friendly and helpful! And lastly, don't just set your stuff on a table - have some containers on the floor and if possible, behind you on the wall, or on a rack on the table. It's too easy for people to walk by a table. Good luck!

I'm sure things will pick up next month, what with Christmas coming up and everything. Your things look lovely, I'm sure I would have had to stop and buy.

Wow all that fabric is great. The best thing when it comes to craft fairs is not to go in with any expectations. Just go and have fun and if you sell lots then great! I always enjoy them even if my sales are low :) Also the pig is great - did you make him, if so did you get a mastercarve stamp or a large rubber? - do you know where I can get hold of these? Thanks x
