Corners of my home

Every so often, I fall out of love with the house. It's usually when I've fallen behind with the housework, the weather is grim, I'm feeling a bit bored and I've OD on too many Homes and Gardens magazines. I have to remind myself that the house is full of things I do love.

So I roamed around and took some photos of them.

I call it, "small elements of my home that I do not detest and that I have photographed so as to eliminate all traces of dirt and detritus". Do you think it could catch on?

I do the same thing... read all these magazines and then get bored and depressed that my house doesn't look like them. But then someone will come over and remind me that my house is not so bad... especially when all the kids toys are put away!

very nice, i should do that, too. and i like your clothespin art-hanging thing - i just made something similar!

Love your honesty -- yes, I think that group would catch on - esp. with me :-)

I think you're onto something. There are bits of my house I think look - well, OK - but it's hard to see past the clutter and small child-related plastic tat covering every other surface.

I do love your bunting and art hanging - and am making bunting tonight for Sunday's party so may use it that way afterwards - woo hoo!

I notice that all those shots are high off the floor. You know, if I wander around my house and just don't look at the floor, I think I'll appreciate the beauty of my house a lot more. If I don't trip and break my neck on assorted bits of kid clutter. Thanks for an early friday chuckle ;)

Oh to have some beautiful corners like that in my house! The cobwebs and the daily grime seem to stretch everywhere. I'm far to busy to worry about the housework!

I'm totally going home and finding my "small element of my home that I do not detest and that I have photographed so as to eliminate all traces of dirt and detritus"...

I can definitely sympathize with this as well...hI don't know how people make stuff + pick up the house at the same time. And yes, that is the downside of looking at perfectly clutter-free mid century modern homes in decorating mags.

Will publish my answers to your meme shortly, in case you're interested. :)

I'm in love with your house... that banner is darling and the little art pictures and the tins... Love it all! Very cheerful place you have :)

Nice to get a glipse of your home. I love the clock.

I have lots of places I like in the house and but lots of places I hate too. Like the bathroom where the paint is peeling and the outside wall is cracking and there are cobwebs in the corner - hmmmm - real avoidance going on here.

I justify all my mags by saying that one day they will be 'vintage' and I can sell them for some old age money!

By the way, I have a very similar peg system holder too. Love it.

sounds like a great idea to me! my house is a total tip at the moment, and I have to admit to watching too much 'grand designs' and feeling very sorry for myself! I must go round my house and see if there are any nice spots. I love your pretty corners.

Keep looking up, the kids can't leave their toys on the ceiling!

Lovely corners, there's so much there to make you smile!

I like it! I am constantly itching to move and don't stop to appreciate what I actually have. If I get a chance I might find some elements of my home too! I have so avoided the 'corners' group due to my lack of lovely corners!!

I have lovely corners too - perhaps we should all post our favourite corners? I find It's usually a random collection of things from or made by friends that make a special corner.

I love that cute clock :)

This is a great idea, I am trying to look for the good in things at the moment and it might take a magnifying glass but I am going to wonder around and refresh myself with what it good around this house too, time to look past the wall marks and bits of plastic toys in all corners.
