I is for ... Ideas

Or lack thereof. I'm running dangerously low on thoughts for this whole 'encyclopedia of me' thingummy. Panic - I have nothing for J K L M N or O and my P idea is a pretty weak one. Help! Perhaps I can do a 'Johnny singing the alphabet song' trick and treat elemenopee as a single letter? No? Well, I'd better come up with a plan 'b' fast then.

Usually when I find myself stuck for inspiration, I leaf through one of my cuttings books. I started making them when we were house hunting for our first place. It allowed me to let off steam by doing some virtual nesting, so they are chock full of decorating ideas:

A few storage and display ideas, some of which have made it onto my walls in reality:

And the odd seasonal celebration idea:

It's such fun looking back at over 10 years worth of inspiration. How my tastes have changed (although perhaps scarily some have hardly shifted at all). How my pre-occupations suddenly started to include gardening and kids rooms.

How do you collect yours?

Into piles and snippets of links emailed to various friends and family. I definitely need some organization in that department...

Like this...http://bigbucketgirl.typepad.com/bigbucketgirl/2007/06/getting-rid-of-.html !!!
Usually at night, when the kids are all asleep...DH away, then I get out all the cuttings from weeks, maybe months of collecting and stick to my hearts content...aided and abetted by a glass of white and a big bag of M+Ms!!

I'm on I too! I know what you about trying to come up with some ideas, I've jotted down the letters with a few possible topics and when I've been stuck I've had a quick browse through the dictionary for inspiration. And have you found that not less and less comments are being left as we go on....I think posting every day means people can't keep up with us. I'm sticking with it but I'm going back to posting once or twice a week once I've completed this meme.
I love your cuttings book, just what I want to do. I've got a book ready, just need to sit and paste in my pictures I've snipped out over the months.

I've been reading the dictionary. Maybe that will help you! I can only think of words for letters that are a long way off, so then I forget them when they are pertinant, or for letters I've already done!

You've seen mine - lovely to see yours! I have just updated my scrapbook and lots of the images were red and white...

Pasted in to books when the piles of magazines threaten to take over the house.

It is a great way of elevating magazine reading to the category of "work related".

I am always worried that my tastes seem not to have changed at all in 10 years - though there are more clear calm photos of white interiors in there than there were pre-kids.

I have a sketch book where all my craft ideas are drawn out. I'm running at 100% failure rate so far!

I'm the same - stick them in a book. would love to have an entire wall to stick them on so I could see them all - I keep dreaming!
P.s. just read the E post to husband and we had a little giggle - I think it would make a great t-shirt - something like "my mummy might be yummy but she isn't for eating"!

What a fun inspiration book--there are so many wonderful ideas to try or dream over that a little collection is helpful. Sometimes I go through my collection and think about why I wanted something and why I haven't done anything about it--so it kickstarts me into action.

The same way you do! I kick myself for throwing away the one's I had from the early '90's I love the randomness of my books. I keep love notes from my husband, cool pictures, cool projects, everything!

Oh, I love the pumpkins - surely they could be an all year round decoration though ;-)

Funnily enough, I was just about to ditch all my old magazines and boxes full of clippings in the spirit of decluttering. Now you've made me think I ought to save the things I like now even if only to be able to look back in horror in ten year's time ...
