Last weekend I got round to it and today I had the chance to pick up the upholstery tacks to finish it. It's base is a cork board, so it can be used with thumb tacks, or you can just slide your bits and bobs under the ribbons (which are twill tape in this instance).
Both my boys have versions of these in their rooms and they are fab for keeping hold of all that kiddy paper that just cannot be thrown away, but is ruined in seconds if left within reach. I'll take this to the craft fair and see if any commissions come out of it.

There must be something in the air, I've literally just finished painting the frame of my pinboard. I've got to try to decide on some material to cover it with now though.
I love the material you used. Did you put fleece wadding underneath or is it just the corkboard underneath?
I love the ideas of ribbons/tape to help hold things up! Will have to try and make one, they are so much more kiddie friendly - no need for pins! Another for my list of things to do!

Celeste, I want to reply to you, but blogger won't tell me where your blog is. The material is from Ikea and I used a couple of layers of quilt wadding underneath th give it a puffyness that helps the ribbons grip your stuff. The whole lot is staplegunned to the back of the frame.
How funny, I planned to make one of these this weekend to put in my studio! Yours is very nice ;-)

Thanks for the instructions Ali. My frame got it's second coat today, so I'll dig out some wadding and and put it all together tomorrow.
We're getting an Ikea near us at the end of the month, and I've already been eying up the vegetable print fabric similar to your leaf print, so I'll use some out of the stash until then.

Smashing, Ali. Simply smashing. If I didn't think shipping across the puddle would be a bear, I'd have you make one for me. Sure, I could make one myself but would I? Likely not. Plus, you can obviously make them with beautiful results. Damn, Atlantic ocean!

It looks lovely! On the wall pocket that I made last week, I was disappointed because the pins on my thumbtacks went all the way through the cork. Then I looked at bulletin boards in the store and they had cardboard on the back. Did you have to put cardboard behind yours? I'm going to try that next time. Nice work! I hope you get some commissions. The craft show is coming up, isn't it?
